Fact-Checking Policy

Most of what we publish is about our own games, so our main fact-check is simple: does the page match what the game actually does?

What we check

Game pages

  • Controls are tested on a keyboard, with a mouse and on a touch screen, and must match the table on the page.
  • Point values, lives, timers, level counts and difficulty differences are checked against the game's code and by playing the game.
  • Tips must work in the real game. We don't publish a tip we haven't tried.

Guides

  • Any statement about a specific Dog Arcade game is checked against that game.
  • Technical explanations, for example how the HTML5 canvas, requestAnimationFrame, local storage or touch events work, are checked against browser documentation and behaviour we can observe.
  • General gameplay advice is presented as practical technique, not as scientific or medical fact. We don't cite studies unless we can point to them, and we don't invent numbers.

What we avoid

  • Statistics or figures we can't source.
  • Claims about popularity, rankings or player numbers. We don't collect that kind of data, and the site has no global leaderboards.
  • Claims about real dogs' health, training or breed traits.

Before and after publishing

New pages are reviewed by the team before publishing. When a game is updated, we recheck its page and any guides that mention it. Links are checked when the site is rebuilt.

Reporting an error

If you believe something on Dog Arcade is inaccurate, please use the contact page and choose "Correction". Tell us the page, the statement and why you think it's wrong. We review every report, test the claim, and correct the page if needed. See also our editorial policy.
