How to Play

  1. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard and press Play. The cup has three tracks: Park Loop, Forest Trail and Canyon Twist.
  2. Wait for the countdown, then run and steer around the dirt track. The timer starts on GO.
  3. Stay on the dirt. Grass cuts your top speed to well under half, and puddles slow you while you splash through them.
  4. Avoid cones and rocks, and run over orange boost treats for a short burst of extra speed.
  5. Follow the track through its checkpoints. Skipping one means the lap does not count until you go back for it.
  6. Complete the laps on all three tracks. Your total cup time is your result, and lower is better.

Game Tips

  • Tap Down briefly before a tight bend. You also turn a little more sharply while braking, which is often faster than running wide onto the grass.
  • Boost treats reappear a few seconds after you take them, so it is worth learning where they sit and steering through them every lap.
  • Cones knock your speed down by more than half, while rocks bounce you backwards. Line up early rather than swerving at the last moment.
  • The red ring marks your dog and the minimap in the corner shows where your rivals are.
  • If you see the Missed a checkpoint message, turn back and run through the section you skipped. Cutting across the grass rarely pays off anyway.
  • Your position in each race is shown for fun, but only the total time is saved, so a clean race matters more than a risky overtake.

About This Game

Dog Race is a top-down racing cup. You run three tracks in a row, each with its own shape: the wide and flowing Park Loop, the winding Forest Trail and the narrower Canyon Twist with tight bends. Three rival dogs race with you, so you can always see your position, but your result is the total time across all three tracks.

The dog accelerates when you hold Up, steers with Left and Right, and slows down with Down. The track is dirt with grass on either side. Leaving the dirt drops your top speed to about 42 percent, puddles bring it down to about 55 percent, cones cut your current speed by more than half and rocks bounce you back. Boost treats give about one and a half seconds at 45 percent extra speed. Ten hidden checkpoints on every track stop shortcuts.

Difficulty

  • Easy: 2 laps per track, and the rivals run at about 80 percent of your top speed.
  • Medium: 3 laps per track, with rivals at about 90 percent.
  • Hard: 3 laps per track, with rivals at about 97 percent. They can win if you make mistakes.

Your best cup time for each difficulty is saved in your browser.

Features

  • Three looping tracks raced back to back as a cup
  • Three rival dogs and a live position read-out
  • Cones, rocks, puddles and speed-boost treats on the track
  • Checkpoint gates that stop shortcuts
  • Keyboard, on-screen buttons or hold-to-steer touch control

Frequently asked questions

What counts as my score?

The total time for all three tracks, including every lap. Lower is better, and it is only saved when you finish the whole cup.

Does finishing first matter?

Your finishing position is shown after each track and in the final summary, but the saved best is your total time.

Why did my lap not count?

You probably skipped a checkpoint by cutting across the grass. Go back along the track and run through the part you missed.
