How to Play

  1. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard and press Play.
  2. Move one tile per press. Walls stop you, and each successful step adds one to your move count.
  3. Pick up a red, yellow or blue key, then walk into the door of the same colour to open it. Each key opens one door.
  4. Walk into a crate to push it one tile. Crates cannot be pushed into walls, doors, other crates, items or the exit.
  5. On soapy floor you keep sliding until something stops you or you reach dry floor.
  6. Keep away from the robot vacuum and the beetle. They follow the dotted patrol line, and touching one restarts the room.
  7. Step onto the green EXIT door to clear the room. Clear all ten rooms to escape.

Game Tips

  • Look at where each crate can end up before you push it. A crate pushed into a corner can never be pulled back out, so use Undo or Retry room if you trap one.
  • Some crates are more useful as stoppers: slide into a crate on soap to halt exactly where you need to be.
  • Plan soap routes backwards from the tile you want to reach and ask which wall or pillar would stop you there.
  • Patrols never change their route. Wait in a side pocket until the vacuum or beetle has passed, then follow behind it.
  • The par counts the moves of a tidy route that also collects every bone, so you can grab all the bones and still earn the par bonus.
  • On Hard the par is hidden until you finish the room, so count your moves and avoid wandering.

About This Game

Dog House Escape is a turn-by-turn puzzle game with a little arcade pressure. The dog moves exactly one tile per press, so every room is about planning a route: which key to fetch first, which crate to push where, and how to cross a soapy floor without sliding past your target. Later rooms add a robot vacuum and a beetle that patrol on a fixed loop in real time.

There are ten hand-designed rooms that get steadily more involved, from a simple hallway to a final room that uses keys, crates, soap and a patrol together. Every room was checked with a solver to make sure it can be completed.

Scoring

  • 300 points for each room cleared (on Medium and Hard this drops for every retry, down to 100).
  • 25 points for each bone collected.
  • A par bonus of 150 points, plus 10 for every move under par, when you finish within the room's par.

Difficulty

Easy gives unlimited undo, makes keys glow and highlights doors you can open, and has the slowest patrols. Medium allows five undos per room. Hard has no undo, hides the par until the room is cleared and has the fastest patrols. There are no lives, so you can always retry a room. Your best total score is saved in your browser for each difficulty.

Frequently asked questions

What if I get stuck?

Press R or tap Retry room to reset the current room. On Easy and Medium you can also undo moves, which is quicker when you only made one mistake.

Does getting caught by the vacuum end the game?

No. The room simply restarts from the beginning. There are no lives in Dog House Escape.

What is par?

Par is a target move count for each room, based on a short route that collects every bone. Finishing on or under par earns a bonus.
